Next Year’s Ag Show Plans “Well On Their Way”
The plans for the 2016 Ag Show are “well on their way” and proposals for services and goods for the upcoming show are being accepted now, the organisers said today [Nov 9].
The Ag Show, which is normally hosted by Government, was cancelled last year to financial reasons, and earlier this year it was announced that there will be public/private partnership between Ag Show Ltd and the government to hold the event in 2016.
A statement today from the organisers said, “The AG Show Ltd, a registered charity [#968] will be managing, through a public-private partnership with Government of Bermuda, the Bermuda Agricultural Show that will take place from April 14th, 15th and 16th, 2016 at the Botanical Gardens in Paget.
“Today we stand here announcing that the plans for the upcoming show are well on their way and we are excited to announce that we are accepting proposals for services and goods for the upcoming show.
“This year’s show will be completely funded through charitable donations of both monetary and in-kind. And we are excited that we will be able to keep one of the staples of Bermuda’s community events alive.”
Antwan Albouy and David Lopes speaking about the preparation:
The organisers are looking for proposals for the following:
- Tents, tables and chairs
- Security
- Trash clean-up for April 14th to 17th
- Portaloos
- Tickets
- Ag Show catalogue and programs
- Graphic designer
- Sound Equipment & Staging
- Exhibitor tags and cards
- Award ribbons and rosettes
- Production of shirts
- Food & beverage catering
“If you believe that your company has something to offer please contact our Show Secretary at secretary@theagshowbda.com,” the organisers added. “As the show draws closer we will be sure to keep the Bermuda public aware.”
I will certainly be attending the Ag Show next year. It will be great to see what enterprising Bermudians can put together, largely independent of Government! We need more of this on the Island.
$80,000 bogus bonus to Hanbury and $80,000 insurance for the U.B.P. party tent !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Mmmmmmmmm
WILL YOU STOP TALKING ABOUT BILL HANBURY AND FINALLY GROW THE HECK UP!
That is absolutely great news!!!
Now it’s time to outsource the rest of parks so that taxpayers can start getting value for money
34 dislikes? Are parks workers sitting inside somewhere playing on the internet? Would explain a lot
Public Transport Ltd.
Refuse Ltd.
Education Ltd.
Parks Ltd.
Hatchet approach.
Good luck to you Ag Show Ltd. We will all certainly appreciate government provision of service after this.
This is excellent news, after all somethings are truly Bermudian and to loose it would be a travesty, if the O.B.A can borrow 77 Million for America’s cup of which we the tax payer’s will have to repay, with no substantial financial returns to the public purse, why can’t they see to it that we have a meaning event and traditional not be lost, such as the Ag show. Thank You to Mr. Lopes and all those who have worked so hard to make this happen for all Bermudians.
You need to recheck your facts regarding the America’s Cup financing. You’re way off base. But glad you’re excited about the Ag Show.
@santucci, being I have previously had the miss-fortune of reading your many posts of nonsense, I am not surprised to read your latest!!! Why don’t you put the blame for this years cancellation of the AG show were it really belongs?? Your plp!!!! When it comes to the OBA and the $77 million as you say being no financial benefit??? Why don’t you ask the many local venders that have already benefited from it and that is only the beginning!!! You obviously are one of the few that would prefer to do nothing but sit on a fence with your hand out waiting for money to fall into it and when it doesn’t you complain??? No one is surprised by your latest post of nonsense, believe me!!!!!
Take a good look at who the majority of the vendors were, and overall the vendors compared to the majority of the population, is still a trickle down effect of who will really get the benefits.
I don’t look at what seemingly looks good on the surface, but face the facts and reality of who stands to gain and who really stands to loose.
we still as tax payers have to pay the money back and when comparing the money that has come in and will in 2017, it is a big joke.
@santucci, what actually is a big joke, is the $800 million YOUR plp allowed to magically disappear and yet you say nothing about us the tax payers who are REALLY on the hook for??? Also, it doesn’t take a deep thinker to figure out that you think only white people benefited from the Loius Vetton AC cup sailing event a couple of weeks ago, maybe you should open your eyes that have obviously been kept shut by your love for your plp and talk to the black boat oporaters, black business owners on front street and all the black taxi operators to name but just a few of those blacks your only look out for??? But hey, who am I to question your tactics in trying to only see things in the colour black???
The real big joke is how you are still discussing the PLP after the 100s of years that of oppression in Bermuda.
Fact Check for Bermuda:
1609-1834- more than 200 years of Slavery
1835-1998- more than 150 years of Legislated Oppression
1998-2012- 14 years of a gov represented by the people
Now 3 years of a gov that does not represent the people
The sick joke is what happened fo the last few years of that 14!
1968 – 1998
Emergence of more black millionaires per square mile and per capita than any other place in the world.
More black Bermudians traveling the world than any others anywhere else.
More blacks owning their own homes and getting on the real estate ladder than anywhere else .
More blacks sending their children overseas for education than anywhere else .
Shall I go on or do you want me to keep reading your post and feeling that you’ve been hard done by as I reach for another kleenex ?
sorry but your the joke.why cant you simply admit that the plp were the ones that ran the well dry. then i would listen/read your gibberish
What about the construction directly involved? The extra residents (the sailors and technical teams) that are renting and purchasing goods and services as well as employing local chefs and people to run the Endeavor programme?
The fact that there was 100% hotel occupancy and fuller flights. The island in all its natural glory was beamed to a global audience with, what many AC insiders have said, more boats framing the race course than they can ever recall.
Does the $77m need clarifying any further? The taxpayer will be footing a far smaller bill.
Where to begin?
It was your PLP, BIU, and civil Servants who torpedoed the AG show, trying to destroy that and other Bermuda traditions, even suggesting Our Coat of Arms / Motto.
Talk about what Bermuda taxpayers have to pay back, what about ?
Grand Atlantic
TCD
Berkeley Institute
Court House
It goes on and on
the America`s cup was not finance by Bda. Gov.
What in the 1 1/2 decades have your party produced ???, let alone accounting ???
Hospital……
Great to see the Ag Show back in the hands of competent organisers. Ag Show 2016 is destined to be the best in a very long time.
If you look under the Hood you would see the same people who ran it before running it now.
Actually, the event will end up costing a lot less because Parks won’t be paid OT to stand around and party during the event as was done in previous years. Unlike Government, people will be paid for the work they actually do. Taxpayers are sick of being held hostage
Bopgah boogah boogah!
I can remember that the OBA tried to put the blood of the DEMISE OF THE AG SHOW ON THE HANDS OF THE UNIONS , all the while the AG SHOW money was redirected to the homogenous sailing community .
The Ag show was ruined by the Unions. Why are you trying to rewrite history?
It not enough to lie outright .. Please explain how you’ve arrived at the lie ? Also what is your motivation for casting erroneous aspersions ? Do tell !
