United Airline Flight Diverts For Sick Passenger

[Updated] A United flight heading towards Newark, New Jersey diverted to the island tonight [Dec 18] for a passenger that took ill on board the airliner.

United Flight #1484 which originated from Gregorio Luperon International Airport in Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic was met at LF Wade International Airport by an ambulance and Bermuda Fire and Rescue Service personnel at approximately 7.45pm.

The sick passenger was disembarked from the aircraft and transported to King Edward Memorial Hospital for treatment. As of 9.45pm, the aircraft remains at the terminal.

Update 6.00am, Dec 20: A replacement plane was flown in for the passengers. The flight departed at approximately 2.00am.
