Traffic Delays Due To Downed Power Lines

January 7, 2016

[Updated] There are major traffic delays in the area of Middle Road and Camp Hill Road due to downed power lines, which BELCO said are “most likely the result of the inclement weather.”

A police spokesperson said, “The public should be advised there is a major traffic delay in the area of Middle Road and Southampton and Camp Hill Road as apparently there is an electrical wire down in the road.

“Police and BELCO are advising the motoring public to take the South Shore Road going east and west, BELCO advises the public that it will take approximately two hours for there to be free flowing traffic in the area again.”

A BELCO spokesperson said, “At approximately 2:30pm, BELCO’s system alerted it to downed HV power lines in the area of Camp Hill Road & Middle Road, near Heron Bay Market Place, most likely the result of the inclement weather. Crews are currently onsite making repairs and restoring power.

“We ask that wherever possible, motorists avoid this area and use alternate routes. We will continue to provide updates as they become available.”

Update 10.27pm: A BELCO spokesperson has confirmed that “repairs are now complete and power fully restored.”
