Court: Two Men Charged With Multiple Counts
Appearing in Magistrates Court this morning [Feb 22], two men — who the Crown Prosecutor said were believed to be Bulgarian nationals — faced multiple charges involving stealing, and attempting to steal money from three of Bermuda’s banks.
Chavdev Bachev, 42 and Georgi Todorov, 41, were not required to enter pleas as their case will be sent to the Supreme Court for trial, and the pair were remanded into custody until the April 1st Supreme Court Arraignments Session.
With all alleged offences occurring between 11th and 14th February 2016, the pair were charged with stealing $4,500 from HSBC, $4,100 from BNTB, and $11,300 from Clarien.
The pair were also charged with attempting to steal $12,000 from HSBC, $13,000 from BNTB, and $12,000 from Clarien.
One defendant was also charged with transferring $900, which he knew to be the proceeds of crime; and with possessing $10,331 which he knew to be the proceeds of crime, while the other was charged with transferring $900, which he knew to be the proceeds of crime; and with possessing $9,500 which he knew to be the proceeds of crime.
The pair were assisted by an interpreter.
