29th Annual End-to-End Registration Now Open
The Bermuda End-to-End has launched live registration, along with team formation, a redesigned website, a social media campaign, and fundraising efforts in preparation for this year’s event, lead by title sponsor XL Catlin and platinum sponsors CellOne and the Royal Gazette.
More than 3,000 participants are expected to take part in the open water swim on May 6 or walking, cycling, paddling or rowing on May 7 in the End-to-End, the Middle-to-End or the Fun Walk, with this year’s event branded as “Good Cause, Great Fun.”
Anne Mello, chair of the End-to-End Charitable Trust, said, “Our formula is to ask participants to stretch themselves, go a little further and raise a little more. We have five exceptional family charities to support.”

A spokesperson said, “The End-to-End will donate up to $60,000 to each charity, enough to make a significant impact on their programs.
“The five charities selected this year are The Coalition for the Protection of Children’s breakfast program for school children; Open Airways, a program which treats asthma sufferers; PRIDE, a drug prevention/self-esteem program for school students; Family Centre, which offers family counseling support; and PALS, which provides financial support for seniors who cannot afford cancer medications.
“The charities will work closely with the Bermuda End-to-End board to raise awareness of the event and the crucial need for funds to support their services.”
Patrick Tannock, chair of XL Catlin’s Bermuda-based philanthropic unit, the XL Foundation, said, “XL Catlin is once again proud to be the title sponsor of the End-to-End which has not only raised millions of dollars for local charities over the years but also brings together thousands of people from all walks of life in Bermuda to support charities that continue to serve the growing needs of our community.
“This year we are encouraging everyone to come out as a volunteer, participant or simply to cheer others on as they walk, cycle, swim, paddle or row across the island for this great cause.”
“To date, End-to-End has distributed more than $5 million to Bermuda charities, with all of the funds staying on island.”
The first 25 registrants will receive a $20 gas voucher from SOL Bermuda, with prizes lined up for individuals and corporate, social or sports teams for hitting fundraising top targets; the top leaders will be recognized in various ways throughout the next 90 days.
