Popular travel website Trip Advisor recently released the 2016 Traveler’s Choice Awards for the best beaches, with Bermuda’s Horseshoe Bay Beach named as one of the top 25 beaches in the world, with the Southampton beach called “picturesque, with pink sand and gentle waves rolling in.”
Other locations in the top 25 include Cape Verde, Turks & Caicos, Brazil, Cuba, Seychelles, Venezuela, Puerto Rico, Balearic Islands, Myanmar, Honduras, Philippines, St. John, Whitsunday Islands, Egypt, Greece, Costa Rica, BVI, South Africa, Portugal, Thailand, Florida, Mexico, India, and the Mariana Islands.
The Ministry of Public Works recently announced that the tender for the Horseshoe Bay Concession has been awarded to Chops Ltd, saying that it is “proposed that Chops Ltd. will be fully operational by mid-April of 2017 but will be offering a scaled back service from good Friday of this year until April 2017.”
President of CHOPS Ltd., Rick Olson, said, “We intend to preserve the natural beauty and safety of Bermuda’s beaches, while also maintaining a casual and relaxing food, beverage and entertainment experience out of renovated and refurbished premises.
“As part of our strategy, we intend to develop a brand that becomes internationally recognised and beach centric, which is environmentally conscious and both relaxing and exciting,” added Mr Olson.
Berm-u-tee-ful!!!
Wrong people to have it. The Beach Boys should have received the contract for the development. They are more inviting, friendly and more Bermuianized and the entertainment would’ve been second to none. Look what they have done to Tobacco Bay it’s is always crowded and exciting with no stone unturned.
With water and sand littered with trash, a day at Tobacco Bay is like swimming in a big outdoor toilet bowl. There must be a way to preserve natural beauty and have some life there, and it’s a load of nonsense that staff clean up the beach- I’ve never seen one do it. I guess that’s what they call ‘progress’.
If you are at Tobacco Bay (Or ANY beach for that matter…) and you spot litter, Pick it up. Complaining is good to highlight a problem, but the solution is to get rid of the trash.
