Bermudian Teen To Perform At Carnegie Hall

March 21, 2016

Bermudian Camille Carlington, who resides in the USA, has been selected as a finalist in the 2016 Middle School Honors Performance Series, and the 14-year-old is set to perform at the famed Carnegie Hall in New York City.

Her father Derrick Carlington, formerly of St. David’s, said, “Camille started playing piano at age 3. She now plays the Bass Clarinet, Clarinet, and Guitar in addition. She has performed numerous times in front of Judges from the Oklahoma University Musical Society and was given a grade of Superior each time.”

The acceptance letter said, ” We are extremely pleased to notify you that Camille has been accepted as a Junior Finalist in the Honors Junior Band for the 2016 Middle School Honors Performance Series.

“The Selection Board and Conductors reviewed Camille’s application and chose Camille to represent the dedicated middle school performers from across North America by performing at Carnegie Hall during its 125th anniversary season.

“Camille’s acceptance to this talented group is a direct result of the dedication and achievements demonstrated in Camille’s application.”

According to Nancy Richardson, Program Director, “Being selected to the Honors Performance Series is something each Junior Finalist should be extremely proud of accomplishing. We process thousands of nominations annually, selecting only the most talented performers.

“Working with these conductors and performing at Carnegie Hall is a once-in-a-lifetime experience that these student musicians never forget”.

Junior Finalists will come together for five days in June 2016 in New York City to have the opportunity to learn from experts and work with other Junior Finalists.
