BVA Volleyball Tournament Kicks Off On May 7

March 26, 2016

The Bermuda Volleyball Association [BVA] is getting set for its 23rd annual Corporate Volleyball Tournament, a fundraising event that benefits the Men’s, Women’s and Junior National Volleyball Teams, on Saturday, May 7 at North Village Community Club.

The Corporate Volleyball Tournament is a recreational, co-ed tournament for players of all levels. It’s open to BVA and non-BVA members and is intended to introduce new people to the sport of volleyball while providing companies the opportunity to participate in a sporting event together.

“We’re so proud to host the Corporate Volleyball Tournament for a twenty-third year in a row,” said BVA co-president Stacey Madeiros-Cooke. “Not only is this event a huge benefit to companies that want their workforce to engage in an active day of team building, but this tournament is a vital component of our National Team’s fundraising calendar.”

A spokesperson said, “It’s also fun for the whole family. Featuring a Kids Zone with bouncy castles, kids’ mini-volleyball and food and beverage concessions, the Corporate Volleyball Tournament is a perfect venue for children of all ages.

“Each team will have six co-ed players and will compete on the grassy pitch of the North Village Community Club, with winning teams to be awarded prizes from the BVA.

“Special thanks to the Bermuda Volleyball Association’s generous sponsors including Corona, Flanagan’s Irish Pub and Barritt’s, which has sponsored this event since its inception.”

“Without the generous support of our sponsors and Bermuda’s corporate community, our men’s, women’s and junior national volleyball teams would not be able to represent the island on a global scale,” said BVA co-president Stacey Madeiros-Cooke.

“We’re so very grateful for their participation in this event.”

“So how can companies get involved? Sponsor a team [$250 per team]. Encourage six or more employees and/or spouses to play; little or no experience is necessary; enjoy socializing with colleagues out of the office; supports team building through exercise and wellness

“Sponsor a net [$100 per net]. Four signs per net with the company logo; advertising on all tournament material [score sheets, schedules & PA announcements].

“Sponsor a Team and a Net [$300 for one team and one net]. Supports employees; increases marketing exposure.”

Team and net sponsorship registrations must be completed online and registration is open from April 1 through May 3, with a rain date of Sunday, May 8.
