HITCH Mobile App Completes 2000 Taxi Rides
Last week HITCH — Bermuda’s first pre-arranged taxi booking app that puts passengers in direct contact with taxi operators — completed its 2000th ride.
HITCH was launched on December 14, 2015 and was awarded “Most Innovative Mobile Application” in the 2015 TechAwards. Since its launch, over 1,500 residents and visitors have registered while there are now over 100 taxi operators that use the service.
Calvin Minors, chairman of Hitch Limited stated, “It has been a great 3 months. Our team is humbled by the support we have received and we look forward to making our service even better.
“We are especially proud that last month 95% of all HITCH bookings were confirmed within one minute. HITCH will be releasing a series of upgrades over the next few months in response to the suggestions from our customers and taxi operators. ”
“HITCH can be downloaded by visiting the Apple App Store for iPhone, or the Google Play store for Android mobile devices. There is no cost to download the HITCH mobile app and it can be used immediately after registering,” the company said.
“When in need of a taxi, customers can book through HITCH, get a fare estimate, receive an instant confirmation, and track your taxi’s progress towards you.
“Fares can also be split between account holders, and with all billing done electronically, HITCH eliminates the need to carry cash when taking a taxi.”
For more information about HITCH including fares, privacy policy, and FAQs visit their website.

Love this! Great service for Bermy.
Thank you for your support!
With a lot of things behind the times in Bermuda, I am thankful for this service. Used it a few times. One time I did have an issue and their customer service is excellent!
Looking forward to the updates.
We are trying to be very good at customer service. Thank you for acknowledging our efforts.
I have used it a bunch of times – excellent and reliable.
Too many issues with this app…shouldn’t need access to all my data/pictures etc.
Good Morning,
The reasons for all of the permissions requested are detailed in our permissions document which is available on our website: http://www.hitch.bm/legal/
Regarding access to SD/pictures please note below:
The mapping libraries in HITCH use these permissions to allow map data to be saved to your phone’s external storage, like SD cards. By saving map data locally, your phone doesn’t need to re-download the same map data every time you use the app.
I hope that helps, if you have any other questions feel free to email support@hitch.bm or contact us via social media.
I used Hitch for the first time yesterday. excellent service
Congratulation on the award, “HITCH was launched on December 14, 2015 and was awarded Most Innovative Mobile Application in the 2015 TechAwards” This is a great service until one of them Unions step in and cause havoc…
I’ve used Hitch several times now, including early in the morning on New Years’ Day when I was able to order a taxi in 2 minutes on my phone while everyone else was fighting for them on Front Street. Excellent service every time, wouldn’t use anything else now.
I’m not sure if the taxi driver’s UI is different from the customer, because even when using the app I still get a phone call asking for directions and what colour my house is.
cool. is this Bermuda’s version of UBER?
Sort of, except that it only uses licensed taxis.
It works great.
