Public Accounts Committee Meeting Postponed

May 12, 2016

The Parliamentary Standing Committee on the Public Accounts has postponed its public hearing scheduled for Thursday, 12th May, 2016 at 2:30pm in the Senate Chamber.

“This is due to the unavailability of the Financial Secretary who has not yet fully recovered,” a spokesperson said. “The Public Accounts Committee is comprised of Members of Parliament and is authorized by the House of Assembly to closely examine and report on matters relating to the accounts of the Government of Bermuda and, in particular, to investigate findings reported by the Auditor General in the Auditor’s Annual and other Special Reports. The current Chairman of the Committee is Mr. E. David Burt, JP, MP.”

Are we to believe that there is no-one performing the role of Financial Secretary until Mr Manders returns? Seems somewhat short-sighted and, well, farcical.
