Sunday May 15th: “Good News” Spotlight
News that the Tradeswomen Association awarded its first scholarship to Marvelyn Rogers, Bermuda’s Jah-Nhai Perinchief was named ‘Athlete Of The Week,’ sixteen people were awarded certificates in major appliance repair and service, and Axis Capital donated $20,000 to WindReach were all some of the positive news stories from the past week.
In other good news, TripAdvisor presented the people of Bermuda with a Travellers’ Choice Award, Law Enforcement Officers and the Fire Chief from Pittsfield, Massachusetts donated a portable basketball hoop and an Olympic torch to local police officers, and parents of Purvis Primary pupils raised $9,000 to cover the cost of the entire school spending a week swimming at the National Sports Centre.
Additional good news stories included the opportunity to win free tickets to the upcoming All White Party and a Beyonce concert in New York, and elite British and European rugby players getting set to visit Bermuda in order to work with the island’s youth in June.
We also posted various community photo galleries, including coverage of Commercial Summer League Softball, the French tall ship Etoile, BCB Cricket Premier Division action, Berkeley Institute’s ‘Unclassified’ fashion show, the opening of the “Pop In Pop Up” art gallery, the Heritage Month Seniors Art and Craft Show, the Somersfield Academy Spring Fair, Bermuda Onion Day at Carter House and Gorham’s Home Fair.
