Puppet-Making Workshop This Saturday At BSOA
On Saturday, July 16th the Bermuda Society of Arts will host a Puppet-Making Workshop with Bermudian puppeteer Alex Winfield.
The workshop will start at 10.30am and run till 2pm [3.5 hours]. The workshop is recommended for children aged 7-12. The workshop is $25 per child [an accompanying adult can attend free]. Adults who wish to attend solo are also welcome.
“Puppets are a part of our lives. Whether it be the marvels of Jim Henson’s Sesame Street or the whimsy of seeing a Punch and Judy show at the market, Puppets have permeated our culture and are commonplace. When growing up, how often did we wonder at the wheres and whys of a puppet show, and ask how it was all done?,” a spokesperson said.
“This Workshop is designed to take enthusiastic children and their guardians into the world of puppetry, and show them an easy and enjoyable method of building their own simple puppets and putting on their own puppet adventures.
“The skills learned in the workshop can be carried over into playtime immediately, allowing children to start building their own puppets the moment they get home.
“Puppets will be made using cheap, easy to find materials, with a variety of different puppet styles open to the puppet builders. Children can take their puppets home at the end of the workshop.
Bookings can be made via the Bermuda Society of Arts. Phone Number: 292-3824. Email: bsoa@logic.bm. The puppeteer and workshop leader Alex Winfield can be contacted at: nautilustheatre@gmail.com or at 234 4321.
