Small Fire At Hamilton Princess, No One Injured
[Updated: The Hamilton Princess confirmed that a chimney over a stove in Marcus’ restaurant caught fire, said “thankfully no one was injured and there was no damage to the hotel.”]
Bermuda Fire and Rescue service personnel attended the Hamilton Princess Hotel on Pitts Bay Road tonight [August 23] to an incident that occurred on the property.
The police confirmed that the police and first responders attended a report of smoke coming from a restaurant at the Hamilton Princess this evening.
Some hotel guests were seen outside the building, but after the fire service personnel had been on scene for a while, the guests were seen re-entering the building and the fire service vehicles left a short time later.
Update 10.11pm: The hotel’s General Manager Allan Federer said, “At approximately 8:15pm this evening, the chimney over the wood burning stove in Marcus’ caught fire.
“The safety of our guests and employees is our number one priority and we immediately implemented our fire protocols. The hotel was evacuated while the Fire Department contained the fire.
“Guests have now returned to the hotel building; however, Marcus’ will remain closed until the Fire Department gives us the all clear, which we hope will be tomorrow.
“Thankfully no one was injured and there was no damage to the hotel. We would like to thank the Bermuda Fire & Rescue Service for coming to our aid so quickly and extinguishing the fire.”

Happy no one was injured, & good to see the professionalism shown by both the HP staff & the Bermuda Fire & Rescue Service. Thanks guys/gals.
Most likely chimney is not being cleaned good enough!! Filters clog up etc..
That wing of the hotel needs to stay full of music, drinks and great finger food … Great place for Chewstick Family vibe for young and old all walks of life! Just my opinion
Wow.that could of ended up disastrously. Thank god it didnt.
@ Cris. Can you believe five morons disagreed with you. Yup that’s how fires happen in those environments, it’s called a grease fire. Besides, what else inside that stainless steel hood would honestly catch fire.
.its so expensive, even for locals.
