Digicel Named Official Supplier: Land Rover Bar
Digicel Business have announced they will become an official event supplier for Land Rover BAR at the 35th America’s Cup in 2017.
The announcement builds on last October’s partnership when Digicel Business provided telecoms solutions, data connectivity and support for the Land Rover BAR team base and Royal Bermuda Yacht Club hospitality base during the Louis Vuitton America’s Cup World Series in Bermuda.
Digicel Business will provide Land Rover BAR, led by British four-time Olympic gold medallist and 34th America’s Cup winner Sir Ben Ainslie, with Bermuda based connectivity on BTC’s island wide fiber network at their all new Dockyard base, 4G mobile voice and data services and local support right up to, and during, the Americas Cup in 2017.
Shane McDonnell, Sales Director at Digicel & BTC stated, “We are delighted to be providing our services to Land Rover BAR. It’s the coming together of two organisations in different fields which share the same principals of commitment and innovation in everything they do.
“We are gearing up for the 35th America’s Cup with significant investment in our infrastructure to ensure fans, businesses and visitors remain connected for the duration of the event.”
“Bermuda will be putting its best foot forward, and we are no different. With a global focus on the island, Digicel Business and BTC will show what local business are capable of and help to ensure a successful America’s Cup.”
Sir Ben Ainslie added, “‘We are excited to be partnering with Digicel Business. We know from last year the incredibly high standard of service and products they deliver so they were the obvious choice as partners for 2017. We look forward to developing a great relationship with them as we challenge for the finals of the America’s Cup in 2017.”
The Land Rover BAR team is made up of some of the best British and international sailors, designers, engineers and racing support with many multiple America’s Cup winners, including Chief Technology Officer and two-time winner Andy Claughton and Sailing Team Manager and three-time winner Jono Macbeth.

It is too bad that Digicel won’t do the same for their numerous and long time paying customers! We have to put up with CONSTANT dropped calls, particularly in the Smith’s (Knapton Hill, McGall’s Hill, Harrington Hundreds..especially on the South Shore side, Rural Hill, Harrington Sound Road, Southside St David’s and MANY more areas)
Yes I do have a choice and now it’s a question of who is better between the two evils of Digicel and Cellone….so sad when we pay one of the HIGHEST rates in world for the worst service imaginable.
WHEN are the powers that be going to increase the bandwidth and be on par with many of our neighbouring islands who supply far better cell service for far less.
