Katie Richards, Director of Matrimonial and Family said, “I am excited to be part of this new firm.

“We are a dynamic legal team offering a fresh approach to legal services. We have all had successful careers working in large firms on the Island. We decided to join forces to create our own law firm to offer a more flexible and personal approach to clients.”

Mark Pettingill and Shawn Crockwell will head up the Litigation department and bring to the firm a large amount of courtroom experience.

During his career Mr Pettingill  has successfully handled many high profile criminal and civil court cases and was a founding partner of Wakefield Quin Ltd. He was appointed Attorney General in 2012 and subsequently established his own legal firm, Pettingill & Co. Ltd.

Mr Pettingill said, “Given the growth of my practice I decided to join forces with the other attorneys to form Chancery Legal Ltd. We are an innovative team offering a results driven approach.”

Prior to joining the firm, Mr Crockwell served as Minister of Tourism Development and Transport and also previously worked at MJM Ltd.

Mr Crockwell said, “We have all excelled in our respective areas of practice and collectively we are striving to achieve a reputation that puts Chancery Legal Ltd. at the forefront of legal service providers.”

“Each director works closely with a client to ensure highly personalized and responsive advice. The firm’s ethos is to be accessible and importantly to deal with matters in a cost effective manner.”

Mr Kelly has extensive experience in a range of property transactions covering both commercial and residential deals. He acts for both local and international clients. He initially worked at Wakefield Quin Ltd when he came to Bermuda.

Grant Spurling is an associate in the litigation department, and also advises on corporate administration and compliance matters.

The firm also benefits from the experience of Dennis Dwyer, a senior consultant who specializes in litigation [covering civil, commercial, corporate and reinsurance] and insolvency along with probate and trust related matters.
