UNESCO World Teacher’s Day On October 5

The Corporation of St. George is getting set to host a UNESCO World Teacher’s Day event on October 5 from 11.00am until 12.30pm at King’s Square.

The ceremony on the Square will include a greeting and opening prayer by Rev. Lorne Bean from Richard Allen Church, a few words and a proclamation from the Mayor, a few words from the Minister of Education, musical performances, and presentations to honour Heather Foggo [former teacher at East End Primary] and Phillip Spencer [former teacher at St. George's Prep]. Area MPs, the Shadow Minister of Education, principals, teachers, and students from area schools have also been invited to attend.

    Teachers are going to take a morning off work to honour themselves, and listen to a some music. So, no teaching on Wednesday morning.

    They can’t do this on Saturday? Oh, wait. No-one would show up.
