L’Alliance Française To Celebrate Baker, Simone

The L’Alliance Française des Bermudes will be celebrating the music and lives of Nina Simone and Josephine Baker when they present Soiree Jazz on Saturday, October 22 on the terrace at the Royal Bermuda Yacht Club.

A spokesperson said, “All members of the public are invited to help celebrate these two extraordinary women who both lived in France and created legendary music. They were great entertainers, and lived extraordinary lives and their music will come to life in Bermuda this autumn.”

“One does not have to be a member of either the Alliance Francais des Bermudes or the RBYC to attend. This splendid night will commence at 8pm on the on the terrace of The Royal Bermuda Yacht Club with a complimentary cocktail “dark and stormy’s a la francis”.

“The Tony Bari Trio, with Bermuda’s own star singers; Joy Barnum and Sheila Smith will bring respectively Josephine Baker and Nina Simone to life in this unmissable one-off event. Word is out that there may also be an up and coming Bermuda singer performing Edith Piaf.
