Alliance Française To Celebrate Bastille Day
The Alliance Française des Bermudes will celebrate Bastille Day on July 14 with an evening of French food, live music and dancing featuring the duo Tête à Tête.
A spokesperson said, “France’s national day, “le Quatorze Juillet,” falls on July 14th and is celebrated by English speakers around the world as Bastille Day. Marked across France and in French communities everywhere, the day honours French culture, history, and pride through music, food, and community gatherings.
“L’Alliance Française des Bermudes invites the community to join in the celebration on Tuesday, July 14th, with a special evening combining dinner, and live music: a full French fête from start to finish.
A Long-Awaited Headline Act
“Headlining the evening are Tiffany Smith-Richol and Dino Richol, the French duo Tête à Tête: Bermuda artists L’Alliance has hoped to book for a long time and, this year, finally secured. The pair will open the evening with an intimate set before joining the full lineup as part of The Big Reveal Band for the main event.
An Evening in Three Acts
“The night begins with a welcome drink and mingling, where guests are welcomed to greet one another in French or English. Simply ask, “français ou anglais?”. During this opening hour, Tête à Tête will perform jazz, folklore, and French jazz standards alongside beloved English-language songs translated into French, so every guest can follow along to melodies they already know.
“Dinner brings The Big Band Reveal and Tête à Tête together for a curated musical journey through French song: classics from Édith Piaf, Johnny Hallyday, and Brigitte Bardot; chansons françaises loved by French speakers and francophiles alike; and English-language favourites that guests will recognise instantly, often without realising they were written by French artists. The set also draws on standards that crossed the Atlantic through Nina Simone, Josephine Baker, and Eartha Kitt [three American artists who made their homes in France and performed fluently in French] before moving into modern hits from Québécoise icon Céline Dion, Belgian singer Stromae, and other francophone stars.
“As dinner winds down, the evening shifts into high gear with French pop, rock inviting guests of every generation onto the dance floor. Tiffany and Dino bring firsthand experience to these numbers, having performed them in Paris, at weddings, in French bistros, and at La Fête de la Musique: France’s celebrated music festival held each year on the first day of summer.
“Throughout the night, guests will also have the chance to win prizes, adding an extra spark of excitement to the celebration.
A Night for Everyone
“This is not an event reserved for French speakers alone. Whether you speak French fluently, a little, or not at all, the music and the dinner are designed to bring everyone together on common ground, with familiar songs, warm company, and an atmosphere built for connection.

“Tickets [including a welcome drink, dinner, and live music] are available now on bdatix.bm and must be purchased before July 12th. Proceeds support L’Alliance Française’s cultural and educational programmes. Space is limited, so early booking is strongly encouraged.
