Warwick Academy Closing Early On Wednesday
In light of Hurricane Nicole’s current path toward Bermuda, Warwick Academy is informing the public of changes to the school’s open hours over the next three days.
A spokesperson said, “We have consulted with other schools, have followed local forecasts, and kept an eye on the EMO.
“School will close early tomorrow [Wednesday] in a staggered fashion to alleviate as much traffic congestion as possible. Reception and Year 1 collection time is at 12:00, Year 2 & 3 collection time is at 12:15 and Years 4, 5, 6 collection time is at 12:35.
“The Secondary will close at 12:35pm [at the end of lesson 5]. Primary staff will supervise younger siblings until the older siblings collect them from Primary.
“The school campus will close at 2pm tomorrow [Wednesday] to get ready for the storm. This means no after-school activities – no clubs, sports, after school prep, BEARS and CUBS clubs etc.
“We will be closed on Thursday.
“At this stage we will be closed on Friday, as the prediction is for a slow-moving storm. Key staff will assess the readiness of the school campus on Friday when it is safe. Assuming we have the means to communicate we will update parents as to our readiness.
“We will use all means of communication to get the message out – email, radio, social media, news sources. Our intention is to be open on Monday.
“We will be postponing both our Open House events scheduled for tomorrow; moving the Whole School Open House [Years 1-10] to Thursday 20th October at 9am and the Sixth Form Open House to Wednesday 19th October at 5:30pm.
“Please do let others know if they were interested in seeing us in action. To accommodate these changes our Year 13 PTC moves to Monday 17th October at 4:15pm in the PPMH.”
