Sunday December 11th: “Good News” Spotlight

News that goalkeeper Nathan Trott signed a professional contract with West Ham, Bermuda College lecturer Shawn DeShields won a research award, Berkeley Institute students were awarded at the schools prizegiving ceremony, and Interact Club students helped pack food hampers for those in need were all some of the positive news stories from the past week.

Other good news stories included tennis player Trey Mallory making it to the finals in Florida, Saltus students getting top marks from Softbank CEO Dean Barker for their design work, young basketball players traveling to New York, three Bermudian graduate trainees joining the Bermuda Monetary Authority, and three charities receiving donations from Conyers Dill & Pearman.

In additional good news, local firm Cosmic won two design awards, the Flying Colours Mountain Bike Series was held, Nikki Bascome won at Take Over Fight Night, 28 sports came together to form the Association of National Sport Governing Bodies, and Kamau Leverock and Delray Rawlins were selected for the ICC Americas squad that will compete in the WICB Nagico Super 50.

We also posted various community photo galleries, including coverage of the cross country event at Botanical Gardens, the final day of the Gosling Golf Invitational, decorations on charity Christmas trees at Washington Mall, the Hamilton Princess’ holiday gingerbread house, and the MS Amlin Moth Sailing Regatta.
