Court: Four Men Deny Assault On Court Street
Appearing in Magistrates Court today, four men were charged with assault, while one man was charged with using a cellphone to send a video message that was of a menacing nature.
18-year-old Kamali Davis and 22-year-old Paul Smith were charged with unlawfully assaulting another man on Court Street on 21st March. They were also charged with the alternative offence of taking part in a fight on Court Street on 21st March. Both men denied the charges.
Senior Magistrate Juan Wolffe set trial for July, granted each man bail at $2,500 with one surety each, ordered each man to report to Hamilton Police Station, and ordered that they have no contact with any witnesses or the complainant.
22-year-old Gavaska Lodge-Bascome and 29-year-old Jahmico Trott also denied unlawfully assaulting another man on Court Street on 21st March; and denied the alternate charge of together taking part in a fight on Court Street on 21st March.
Trott alone was charged with using a cellphone to send a video message that was of a menacing nature, a charge he denied.
Both Lodge-Bascome and Trott were given a trial date in July, granted bail at $2,500 each with each man required to provide a surety, ordered to report to Hamilton Police Station, and have no contact with the complainant or witnesses.
