Carifta Swimmers Win 28 Medals In Bahamas
Bermuda swimmers were back in action for the third day as the XXXII Carifta Swimming Championships continued at the Betty Kelly-Kenning Aquatic Centre in the Bahamas, with the team making an exceptional showing to win a total of 28 medals.
Elan Daley won the 11-12 Girls 200 LC Meter IM Gold Medal with a time of 2:30.90, breaking her own record of 2:30.95 she set back on July 31st 2016 during the Canadian Age Group Championships in Alberta, Canada, while Payton Zelkin won the Silver Medal clocking a time of 2:32.18.
Sam Williamson won the 11-12 Boys 200 LC Meter IM Gold Medal with a time of 2:25.27, smashing the record of 2:33.74 he set on January 14th 2017 at the BASA LC Qualifying Meet.
Elan Daley won the 11-12 Girls 50 LC Meter Breaststroke Gold Medal touching the wall in a time of 36.12, while Payton Zelkin finished 8th with a time of 38.93.
Sam Williamson won the 11-12 Boys 50 LC Meter Breaststroke Gold Medal with a record breaking time of 32.42, breaking his own record of 33.96 set back on December 10th 2016 during the Sharks Winter Meet at the N.S.C., Bermuda
Elan Daley clocked a time of 1:00.58 on her way to winning the 11-12 Girls 100 LC Meter Freestyle Gold Medal, breaking her own record of 1:01.06, she set back on April 24th 2016 during the MAC Invitational in Ontario, Canada, while Payton Zelkin won the Bronze Medal with a time of 1:01.83.
Logan Watson Brown won the Bronze Medal competing in the 13-14 Girls 100 LC Meter Freestyle touching the wall in a time of 59.77, and during the 15-17 Girls 100 LC Meter Freestyle Madelyn Moore finished sixth with a time of 59.67.
Jesse Washington captured the Gold Medal in the 15-17 Boys 100 LC Meter Freestyle touching the wall in a time of 52.40, breaking his own record of 52.49, set back on March 24th 2016 during the XXXI Carifta Swimming Championships in Martinique.
Taylor White finished the 11-12 Girls 200 LC Meter Butterfly 5th with a time of 2:45.75.
