Court: 33-Year-Old Admits Stealing Money

April 10, 2017

Appearing in Magistrates Court, a 33-year-old man pleaded guilty to stealing cash from a staff member’s handbag at school.

Hamilton Parish resident Andre Castle  pleaded guilty, with the Court hearing that the teacher had the money in her handbag which was in a desk drawer in her primary school classroom.

After school ended, she collected her handbag and discovered that her $200 had disappeared. She reported the matter. Police investigations, questioning, and a review of the school’s CCTV system revealed Castle was on the premises.

On arrest and questioning, Castle admitted the theft. This morning, asked if he had anything to say, Castle said: “I want to apologize to the lady.”

Noting past matters, the Magistrate sentenced Castle to thirty days in prison.
