Rider Injured In Collision In Critical Condition

A 46 year old man was transported to hospital on Friday night [May 19] following a serious collision on Harrington Sound Road involving a truck and a motorcycle that resulted in the man “expected to be admitted to the Intensive Care Unit in critical condition” police said.

Police Media Relations Manager Robin Simmons said, “Around 11:00pm Friday, May 19th police and first responders were dispatched to a reported serious two vehicle collision on Harrington Sound Road in Smith’s parish near the junction with Odyssey Drive.

“Details are limited at this time. However, it appears that a truck and a motorcycle were involved.

“The injured rider, believed to be a 46 year old Smith’s parish man, was transported to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance for treatment.

“At last check he was expected to be admitted to the Intensive Care Unit in critical condition.

“Traffic was diverted away from the area for approximately three hours while the relevant police personnel processed the scene.

“Inquiries continue and any witnesses are asked to contact the main police telephone number 295-0011.”

Update 1.15pm: Police said, “At last check the rider injured in a collision with a truck on Harrington Sound Road in Smith’s parish near Odyssey Drive, believed to be a 46 year old Smith’s parish man, was in stable condition in the hospital’s Intensive Care Unit.”
