Police Confirm Death Of 80-Year-Old Visitor
The police have confirmed the death of an 80-year-old cruise ship visitor who was snorkelling with a tour group near Dockyard, and said “there do not appear to be any suspicious circumstances.”
A police spokesperson said, “Around 11am today [Wednesday, August 23rd] police and first responders were dispatched to a report of an unresponsive man floating in the water near Dockyard.
“The man, believed to be an 80-year-old cruise ship visitor, was apparently snorkelling with a tour group at the time.
“The senior citizen was retrieved from the water, given CPR and rushed via ambulance to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital where sadly, he was later pronounced dead.
“There do not appear to be any suspicious circumstances and identification of the deceased will be provided in due course, pending notification of next of kin.”
