Bermuda Fire & Rescue Christmas Safety Tips
The Bermuda Fire and Rescue Service has issued holiday safety tips, including how to choose the most fire resistant Christmas tree and how to dispose of the tree when the season ends.
A spokesperson said, “Residential fires during the holiday season are more frequent, more costly, and more deadly than at other times of the year. Many of the things we enjoy over the Christmas period, such as the fairy lights, candles, paper hats, Christmas trees and decorations, can all be fire hazards when proper care is not taken.
“To keep your household from becoming a holiday fire statistic, please see the flyer which has some Christmas tree safety tips to follow!
“As always, have a safe and joyous holiday! Season’s greetings and Happy New Year from the management and staff of the Bermuda Fire and Rescue Service.”
