2017 Edition Of Facts And Figures Released
Today [Jan 26] the Department of Statistics released the 2017 Bermuda Facts and Figures publication, which contains an array of statistical data and information pertaining to Bermuda’s economy.
It highlights social, economic and geographic data from 2014 to 2016 and also contains historical notes on the development of Bermuda since the 16th century.
The highlights below compare 2015 to 2016.
- Real gross domestic product slipped from $4.640.8 billion to $4,635.1 billion
- Per capita gross domestic product rose from $95,943 to $99,317
- In 2015, the value of retail sales increased 4.0 per cent. Retail sales increased by 2.0 per cent in 2016
- Consumer spending rose from $3,128.5 million to $3,175.2 million in 2016
- Government grants and contributions fell from $216.5 million to $200.4 million in 2016
- In 2015, total public sector salaries and wages stood at $439.1 million compared to $421.4 million in 2016
