Boat Runs Aground In Ely’s Harbour Area
On Monday, a 52ft vessel ran aground on the reef in the Ely’s Harbour area, and the person on board waited until high tide to float free from the rocks, and the boat was re-floated a short time later.
A Bermuda Maritime Operations Centre spokesperson said, “Monday 22nd January, 5:01pm. Bermuda Maritime Operations Centre received a VHF Call from local vessel ‘FROLIC’, reporting the 52ft S/V “PRINSES MIA’ aground on the reef outside of Ely’s harbour.
“Bermuda Radio established contact with S/V ‘PRINSES MIA’ who confirmed that vessel was aground with one person on-board. However, vessels hull was reported intact and person on-board waiting for high tide to float free from rocks. Vessel was re-floated a short while later and reported safe & secure in Mills Creek.”
