Tyler To Run In Butterfield & Vallis 5K Road Race
After a very successful marathon this past weekend, Tyler Butterfield will compete in this Sunday’s Butterfield & Vallis 5K. making it a full family affair as Jim, Debbie and Spencer Butterfield are also running.
“It’s a great way to celebrate the Company’s 100th year in business and staff have been encouraged to take part,” the company said, adding that to-date, over 70 staff have signed up to run or walk the 5K.
Paper entries close on Wednesday at 5.00pm and online entries on Friday at 5.00pm. Late registration and number pick-up is on Saturday at Butterfield & Vallis, Woodlands Road between 10.00am and 2.00pm.
The Bermuda Heart Foundation will be the recipients of the race proceeds and this race will launch their Heart Month [February] events.
The races kick off at 8.30am with a new 1k race for lower primary students. At 9.00am the Primary and Middle School boys and girls will run the 2.7k route and at 9.30 the Senior School students and adults will run 5k. Walkers will start 5 minutes after the runners. A 70+ category has been added for the first time this year.
Tyler Butterfield wins the Marathon on Sunday:
$500 will be awarded to the Primary, Middle and Secondary schools with the most entries.
The grand prize draw is for two round trip tickets to New York, a 2 night stay at the Helmsley Tower hotel and 2 tickets to a Broadway show courtesy of New York Presbyterian Hospital [in conjunction with the Bermuda Heart Foundation] There will also be a draw for 2 pedal bikes from Winners’ Edge plus Sportseller vouchers.
BF&M have kindly donated Fitbits for the majority of the category winners, and there will also be a corporate prize for the company with the most entries.
Volunteers from the Bermuda Heart Foundation will be assisting with the race by assisting at number pick-up, marshaling the course and manning the water stops, and there will be a jump rope demonstration by the Bermuda Jump Rope Federation.
The first 1,000 participants will receive a commemorative goodie bag filled with products and a dri-fit shirt courtesy of New York Presbyterian Hospital. The first 1,000 finishers will receive a commemorative medal and all prize winners will receive a gift certificate and a commemorative glass mug.
