Ariel Re Bermuda International 7’s Tournament

Twenty squads from Bermuda and the US competed in the 2018 Ariel Re Bermuda International 7’s Tournament at the National Sports Center.

Men’s Pool Play

In Pool A with Kutztown University [2-1] touted as the team to beat, it was Ohio State [4-0], with an entourage of friends and family cheering them on, who seemingly breezed through pool play highlighted by a stunning 19-7 victory over the Golden Bears of KU.

The Bermuda All-Stars, were shocked by Notre Dame [4-0] as the Irish played precision sevens in their four wins. A late try by the Longtails kept the score close. Notre Dame 24 – Bermuda 12. Bermuda [2-1] play well all night with wins over Rowan 26-7 and Stony Brook 29-10.

Stony Brook, St. Joes and Rowan all finished with one win and two losses with one pool match to play beginning at noon tomorrow. Ithaca College and Colgate tied 17-17.

Women’s Pool

In the first year the Ariel Re Bermuda Intl 7s women’s tournament it was American International College who dominated on Day 1. The Bermuda Women’s Collegiate All-stars surprised all with two wins on Day 1. Colgate’s first side also finished 2-1 on the day.

High School Boys’ Pool

It was the Warwick Academy and Berkeley Institute [3-0] sides who finished on top winning all three of their matches including an impressive upset over St. Thomas High School from Houston, TX [1-2] by a score of 17-12. Beyond Rugby Bermuda’s first side finished 2-1 on the night. Bermuda’s Saltus Grammar School [2-2] also came away with two wins on the night.
