BHI Offer Two New Online Certification Courses

April 16, 2018

The Bermuda Hospitality Institute [BHI] is launching two new courses this month in an effort to help local hospitality workers expand their skills and take their career knowledge to the next level.

BHI said, “Interested participants have until this Friday, April 20th to register for the following online certifications:

  • Elements of Service: Serving Guests with Disabilities – an online learning programme, which is designed to train guest-facing hotel employees in best practices for serving guests with physical disabilities [including vision, hearing and mobility impairments]. The goal of the course is to ensure that service providers feel confident and equipped to handle service interactions with hotel guests who are disabled without the uncertainty, confusion and missteps that often characterize the experience of both service providers and hotel guests with disabilities. The course costs $105 per person and will be completed by Monday, April 30.
  • Trip Advisor Reputation Management Front Line Staff – which is an online course explaining how positive guest reviews contribute to a property’s bottom line. The programme provides information on how staff can encourage positive guest experiences through exceptional guest service and shows how managing a property’s online reputation is essential. The course costs $60 per person and will also be completed by Monday, April 30.

“Both courses are being made available through The American Hotel & Lodging Educational Institute [AHLEI] – known to be a premier source for delivering quality hospitality education, training and professional certifications. The institute, which was founded in 1953, serves the needs of hospitality schools and industries around the world.”

Malika Cartwright, the Executive Director of the BHI, said: “We are proud to be able to offer this course for local hospitality industry professionals looking to enhance their certifications and make a positive impact on the Island’s tourism industry.”

“By completing either of these certifications from the American Hotel & Lodging Educational Institute, participants will be receiving the ultimate distinction of professional excellence within the hospitality industry and standing out from the competition on the Island.”

In addition to the BHI’s two programmes, the Bermuda Tourism Authority has launched a number of different spring training opportunities throughout the month of April. The workshops seek to train people in a number of different areas – from conflict resolution, business image development and promotion & delivery of service.
