Bermuda Softball Season Week #7 Results
Shooters almost changed Super Express’ undefeated record during the most recent round of softball action.
Shooters led 17-14 going into the top of the seventh but Express scored five times with AJ Durham hitting the game-winning single to score Jaryn Martin from second. Carlos Lima hit a solo shot to narrow the gap to 19-18, but Express held on for the win.
Martin was 4-5 in the victory while teammate Antoine Williams was 3-4 with four RBI. Lima had two homers in the loss while the Shooters’ Dylan DeSilva had a productive night going 3-5 with a homer and 4 RBI.
Super Express is now 5-0 in the C Division while Shooters are 1-4.
In the Women’s Division, Harknockz turned off the Outback Skylights 21-1 while Angels didn’t need any divine help in a 17-9 triumph over PHC Zebras. Both Angels and Harnkockz are 5-1. Zebras fall to 2-4, and Skylights need a searchlight for that elusive first victory as they are 0-6.
A Division club Blue Wahoos reeled in Team Smokey 32-17. Wahoos evened up their record to 3-3 and trail division leaders Docksiders by three points. Team Smokey is now 2-4 in the B Division.
FIU-Scared Hitless defeated the Corporation of Hamilton 22 to 9. The victory allows Hitless to move into a fourth-place tie with Beach Bums with 3-2 records. Jade Weaver hit the first grand slam of the year by a woman when she took the ball out over the left-centre field fence to help put Hakuna Mata up 11-2 against Chubb Kings.
However, Chubb came roaring back to prevail 24-16 thanks in large part to John Rolph’s three homers. Rolph was 5-5 and drove in seven runs in the victory. Chubb leadoff hitter Josh Hart was 4-4 with a home run and five RBI. Shannon Rayner was perfect at the plate for Hakuna in going 4-4, and teammate Troy Hall Jr was 2-5 with a homer and three RBI.
With the win, Chubb moved into a tie for first in the B Division with X-Bats with 13 points.
In the Corporate Division, Sea Venture Mini-Me’s defeated the Athene Warriors 18-2 while KPMG accounted for most of the runs against PWC in a 21-6 victory.
All games are played at Michael Preece Stadium at Bernard Park on Mondays through Thursday, starting at 6pm.
