Premier: We Passed 72 Pieces Of Legislation
We “accomplished many goals” and “passed 72 pieces of legislation,” Premier David Burt said, adding that “there is much more work to be done.”
Speaking during the Motion to Adjourn, the Premier said, “We accomplished many goals, we passed 72 pieces of legislation to tackle things like the cost of living, to put in place, finally, a land title registry, to lay a foundation for a new pillar of our economy…”
“There is much more work to be done,” the Premier said. “The people who elected us here want us to deliver on the transformational change.”
Audio of the Premier’s comments:
With a 25-11 of course you did. So easy you can do it in your sleep!
But an awful lot was also rushed through thus needing amendments: how many times was the sugar tax changed? Also what happened on Friday was a disgrace – legislation rushed through on first, second and third readings!
A Bill is meant to be laid and then given two weeks for people to digest its contents! That is a real abuse of 25 -11
to redrose:
I remember you!!
When the wretched O.B.A. was in power and attempted to race through Bermuda opening its broad doors to foreigners and foreign companies, YOU were most jubilant.
Then the wretched O.B.A.pushed forth same sex marriage proposals, you were dandy fine with that.
Well now, tables have realistically turned.
Get over your grudge. P.L.P. will put in place and have put in place what is good for ALL. Unlike the disastrous O.B.A. ,
PLEASE…………..
SrtaightBackward…
1.. The OBA immigration bill was not rushed.. In fact the PLP refused to attend the meetings to have their say.. But then if it wasn’t for the “old immigration regulations” a large number of the PLP MP’s wouldn’t even be Bermudian..
2. The OBA never put forward legislation to legalize same sex marriage
Wtf where are the jobs all I see is deals with foreigners what about us where’s all the bitcoin same game different players.
Too much legislation and too much government for such a small country. Government is helping the majority of population because private enterprise will not – shameful. Employ Bermudians or be taxed; that’s easy.
And our national debt??
GOOD:). These Bills help Bermuda be a better place, internationally also.
Well that’s what they told you so….
Well done, Premier Burt.
Continue on, for the people of Bermuda!!
and the plp also spent a ton of money that didnt belong to you!
Quantity over quality, definitely not worth bragging about. Sometimes egos are too big to accept humbleness or humility. This is one of those times.
PLP please start work on lowering shipping cost. this will a big return on investment.
To bad he cannot reduce the debt as fast as they pass legislation!!! Let’s have it Burt do something that will help the whole island and our people. Then you can have a reason to blow your trumpet.
Believe burt then you believe in the tooth fairy.
Fake news
Mr. Candy man , using taxation as a weapon is not good Governance.
No body is about to reduce the debt if Government continues to purchase Vehicles.
