Court: U.S. Nationals Charged With Importing

September 10, 2018

Appearing in Magistrates Court today [Sept 10], three U.S. nationals were charged with conspiring to import controlled drugs into Bermuda.

31-year-old Margil Mireles of Houston, Texas; 27-year-old Jahad Waldron of Brooklyn, New York and 22-year-old Julian Mendez of Brooklyn, New York were charged with conspiring to import controlled drugs between a date unknown and 5th day of September 2018.

Prosecutors say the drugs were allegedly seized on board the Celebrity Summit cruise ship, and the drugs — said to be tubes of cannabinoid oils and several sheets of what was called ‘shatter’ — had an estimated value of over $200,000 in Bermuda.

The defendants were not required to enter a plea as the charge must be heard in the Supreme Court, and they were remanded into custody and are due to reappear during the October Arraignments Session.
