Traffic Restrictions Due To Race On Oct 7th

The Ministry of Public Works is advising motorists of traffic restrictions due to the Bermuda Bicycle Association President’s Cup Bicycle Road Race that will take place on Sunday [Oct 7] from 7.30am to 10.30am.

A Government spokesperson said, “The Ministry of Public Works is advising motorists of the Bermuda Bicycle Association President’s Cup Bicycle Road Race that will take place on Sunday, 7 October, from 7:30am – 10:30am.

“The race will begin in Warwick, travel to the east and west ends of the Island and finish on Harbour Road. There will be some traffic restrictions along the route, and all motorist are expected to used caution while the race is underway.

The race route is as outlined below:

  • “Cyclists start on Middle Road, Warwick, outside of Lindo’s Family Foods, and travel east on Middle Road to Manse Road, turn left on to Manse Road and then right on to Harbour Road to the Lane.
  •  ”Turn left at the roundabout on to Crow Lane, [Front Street] and Pitts Bay Road, and then left on to St. John’s Road.
  • “Turn right on to North Shore Road to Flatts Village and continue on to North Shore Road to Blue Hole Hill.
  • “Turn left on to Blue Hole Hill and continue along The Causeway and Kindley Field Road.
  • “At the swing bridge, turn left on to Mullet Bay Road, continuing on to Wellington Street and York Street into St George.
  • “Turn left on to Kent Street and then right on to Government Hill and right on to Snapper Lane.
  • “Turn right on to Old Military Road and right on Barrack Hill into York Street heading west to Wellington Street and Mullet Bay Road.
  • “At the round-a-bout after crossing the Swing Bridge, turn left on to St. David’s Road and continue to Texas Road, turn right on to Orange Hole Road, left on to Pepper Hall Road and on to Cooper’s Island Road.
  • “Turn right into the car park and make a circuit exiting on to Cooper’s Island Road.
  • “Turn left at the roundabout on to Southside Road, crossing Stocks Road and continuing out of Southside at the gate by Double Dip.
  • “Head west on Kindley Field Road, cross the Causeway and Blue Hole Hill, making the left turn on to Wilkinson Avenue and continuing along Harrington Sound Road until making a left turn on to Paynter’s Road.
  • “Turn right on to South Road and continue on South Road through the Collectors Hill intersection, through the Trimingham Hill roundabout and past the Paget traffic lights.
  • “Stay on South Road until it meets with Middle Road, Southampton, turning left and continuing to Somerset Road [which becomes Mangrove Bay Road], Malabar Road, Cockburn Road and Pender Road into Dockyard.
  • “Continue on Clock Tower Parade, turn right on to Camber Road, travel straight on to Maritime Lane and right on to Dockyard Terrace, left on to Comber Road and left on to Clock Tower Parade.
  •  ”Turn left on to Freeport Drive and then left on to Cockburn Road. Following Cockburn Road to Malabar Road, Mangrove Bay Road, Somerset Road and Middle Road, head east to Burnt House Hill, turn left and continue on to Harbour Road.
  • “The finish will be in front of 60 Harbour Road, just west of the intersection with Chapel Road.

“Cyclists will make a maximum of one lap. The Ministry of Public Works takes this opportunity to thank the public for their patience and cooperation.”
