Basketball Elite League Enters The Post-Season
The play-offs have arrived for those hungry to grab at the end of season championship of the Bermuda Basketball Association [BBA] Elite City League sponsored by Atlantic Vision and One Communications.
A double-header featuring the mid-to-lower level seeded teams facing each in the single-elimination first round format is to take place at the Bermuda College Gymnasium, starting at 6.45 p.m.
Hornets and Warriors clash in the opening game, while Storm are up against Lions in the second fixture.
The knock-out format of the first round will mean every possession having to count for the sides, with regular season statistics thrown out.
BBA president Cecil Hendrickson said that when it comes to play-off time the form book can well be discarded.
“By now the teams have had a full season to gel, work things out and get on the same page, so this time of the season it comes down to coaching and who can make the proper adjustments in-game and out,” said Hendrickson.
“Panthers and Falcons have the best record of all of the teams in the play-offs, with Panthers having a better record than Falcons as well.
“So based on the won-loss records Panthers are probably the favourites, but the play-offs are a different animal.”
Following tonight, action shifts to Somersfield Academy on Saturday, where the final four takes place.
