Court: 16-Year-Old Girl Denies Role In Murder

November 1, 2018

A 16-year-old girl on trial in the UK for the murder of Bermudian Lyrico Steede has denied she ‘set him up’, according to the latest report from the Nottingham Post.

She is one of five teenagers charged in connection with the murder of the 17-year-old Bermudian, who died after suffering multiple stab wounds.

The report said, “A girl of 16 on trial with four other teenagers for murder denied to police she set up teenager Lyrico Steede, a jury heard.

“A transcript of questions she was asked by a detective in an interview was read out at Nottingham Crown Court on Wednesday, October 31.

“Prosecutors allege the teenage girl had lured Lyrico Steed to a dark park in Bulwell. From there he was chased several hundred yards and was only caught when he stumbled, tripped or fell over a low railing in Stock Well. The 17-year-old died five days after he had been stabbed.

“The alleged knife attack was said to have been carried out by four men in the dock – two 17-year-olds males, Kasharn Campbell, 19, of no fixed address, and Remmell Campbell-Miller, 18, of Sneinton Boulevard.

“The girl had replied “no” to these questions from a police officer; “have you set up Lyrico to be murdered by your associates?” and “have you set Lyrico up?”

“And the officer asked “how would they know if he’s in the park, if you didn’t tell them?” The girl said “I don’t know”. The girl had arranged to meet Lyrico in Bulwell, the trial has heard.

“She had also stated she did not recognise any of the males who chased him. And she asserted she went looking for Lyrico afterwards, but could not find him and went straight home as she was worried.

“She later heard on the news that someone had been stabbed in Bulwell and realised that it must have been Lyrico, the jury has previously heard.

“On Tuesday, October 23, jurors were read details of her name, date of birth, current age and the date and time frame she was interviewed as a potential significant witness. Her name cannot be published due to her young age. She was arrested on suspicion of murder at her home on February 22 this year.

“Jurors have already heard she gave a prepared statement through her solicitor in which she denied playing any part in the murder. The trial continues. ”
