Video: Digicel To Sponsor Junior Netball League
Digicel today [Nov 13] announced a two-year partnership with the Bermuda Netball Association to sponsor the female youth netball league.
“The league will now officially be called the Digicel Netball Association Junior League. The value of the partnership is $9,000 and includes sponsorship and supply of equipment,” Digicel said.
“In addition to financial support the partnership will also see the creation of a ‘Girls Strong’ program which will aim to empower young girls in the areas of leadership, communication, etiquette and education. The program will consist of a series of speakers on different topics as well as Digicel modules.”
Outlining the company’s connection to Netball, Donn Foggo, Digicel Marketing Manager said, “Digicel has many links to Netball as last year we donated Under Armour T-shirts to the National squad who travelled to the UK for the European Open Championship.
“Many of our staff have been involved with the game and of course we’re proud to have former Vice Captain of the national squad Karlandra Smith on the team here. This link up with the Netball Association is yet another example of our ongoing support of worthy causes, organizations and events that help make a real difference in the community and in peoples’ lives.”
“This is an exciting time for netball in Bermuda as we are building for the future of sport. This sponsorship will allow the Bermuda Netball Association to raise awareness and increase community involvement, “said Gina Benjamin, National Netball Coach and Vice-President of the Netball Association
“.It will assist in highlighting the positive moves our young girls are making. It will also assist in increasing their confidence and having them embrace their Girl Power.
“Netball globally is growing with professional leagues now in Australia and the United Kingdom. Both leagues have players from our region which sparks hope for our young girls. We believe this sponsorship will help to foster their talent and provide the opportunity and ultimately make the sky the limit.”

The company noted that since 2016, they have “donated over $360,000 in various sporting, cultural, charity and musical events as well as supporting youth sports and athletes through sponsorship, donation of services and supply of kit.
“The company continues to be committed to the community and recognizes the importance of sporting activities to the development of youth while also contributing to other worthy cultural and sporting events.”
