Video: BFRS Firefighter Of Year Ceremony
The Bermuda Fire & Rescue Service [BFRS] held a special event on Friday [Jan 25] to honor the Firefighter of the Year in memory of William Eugene Glasford, an ex Firefighter who passed away in 1997.
The award was created by his family [wife - Delores Glasford, daughter - Dionne Glasford and son - William "Billy" Glasford, who is also a Firefighter] in 1998 to encourage Firefighters to uphold the standard that Mr. Glasford presented whilst working at the Fire Service.
BFRS Staff Officer Sergeant Allan Wilkinson said, “The Bermuda Fire and Rescue Service celebrated its annual Firefighter of the year award. The award is held in the honor of the late Firefighter William Glasford and acknowledges excellence and high standards maintained throughout the year.
“Firefighter Lance Haynes was acknowledged as the recipient of the award. He is currently assigned to the Airport Operations Division. We at the Bermuda Fire and Rescue Service congratulate Firefighter Haynes, and wish him well.”
