BIFF To Host Evening With Actress Lana Young
On March 10th, the Bermuda International Film Festival will be featuring Bermudian actress Lana Young in an evening entitled “An Evening with Lana Young”, with the event set to include a screening of her most recent feature film, Bentley’s Will, followed by an interview with her and an audience Q&A.
The event promotion said, “Lana fulfilled a dream when she was cast as the lead in the title role of Bentley opposite Phillip Andre Botello. The film, directed by Zachary Parks Grigg, tells the story of an estranged mother [Young] and son [Botello], who over the course of a day begin the slow process of healing while searching for their missing dog. The film makes its international premiere at BIFF.
“She appears in the short film, Beat Blue, also screening at BIFF. Lana, who has worked professionally since receiving her M.A. in Acting from the Arts Educational School London in her 30s, is currently recurring as Dr. Mary Osder in Fox’s hospital drama The Resident and as Inez Trujillo in OWN’s new saga Ambitions airing this month.
“In 2019, you can catch her in feature films Where’d You Go Bernadette with Cate Blanchette, Limited Partners with Tiffany Haddish, Rose Byrne and Salma Hayek — and Three’s Complicated opposite Shanola Hampton.
“Her career work includes the recurring roles of Mrs. Douglas in The Vampire Diaries [CW], Dr. Jacinta Butler in Greenleaf [OWN], Gloria Ruiz in The Inspectors [CBS]; guest-star roles in Gone as Detective Michele Hodiak [NBC], Linda in Kevin Can Wait [CBS], and most recently as Debbie in The Act [HULU] opposite Patricia Arquette; and co-star roles in Jessica Jones, Blindspot, Satisfaction, Nashville, Law & Order, just to name a few.
“Lana has worked with some of the greats, performing with Christopher Plummer and Ewan McGregor in the Oscar-winning film Beginners [her first feature film], playing Gloria the nanny opposite Jake Gyllenhaal and Rachel McAdams in the boxing drama Southpaw, and playing a fertility doctor opposite Emily Blunt and Justin Theroux in the feature film The Girl on the Train.”
The event will be held at BUEI, and you can purchase tickets here on Ptix.
