Video: Carifta Swim Team Return With 42 Medals
Bermuda swimmers were welcomed home tonight [April 24] by Minister of Labour, Community Affairs and Sports Lovitta Foggo at the airport after competing at the 2019 Carifta Swimming Championships in Barbados, winning another thirteen medals on their last night of the championships.
The Bermuda Swim Team finished the competition with a total of 42 medals which include 13 gold, 17 silver and 12 bronze. Coach Ben Smith said they achieved 2nd place overall team at ths year’s Carifta Swimming Championships.
On their last night of events, Taylor White won bronze in the Girls 13-14 400 Meter Free with a time of 4:44.63. Brian Desmond won gold in the Boys 15-17 400 Meter Free with a time of 4:12.31 while Logan Watson-Brown won silver in the Girls 15-17 400 Meter Free with a time of 4:35.23.
Elan Daley won silver in the Girls 13-14 50 Meter Free with a time of 27.00, Giada Dudley-Pun won silver in the Girls 11-12 100 Meter Breast with a time of 1:20.28, and Sam Williamson won gold in the Boys 13-14 100 Meter Breast with a time of 1:09.77. Imojen Judd won bronze in the Girls 11-12 200 Meter Back with a time of 2:38.64, and Elan Daley won gold in the Girls 13-14 200 Meter Back with a time of 2:28.64 while Taylor White won silver in the same race with a time of 2:31.87.
Logan Watson-Brown won bronze in the Girls 15-17 200 Meter Back with a time of 2:31.24. Jack Harvey won silver in the Boys 15-17 200 Meter Back with a time of 2:14.73 and Brett Smith won bronze in the same race with a time of 2:15.52. The Girls 11-12 4×50 Meter Free Relay team of Bella Howes, Imojen Judd, Pippa Charleson and Giada Dudley-Pun won bronze with a time of 1:59.07.
