Opportunity To ‘Personally Release Lou-Seal’
The Mystic Aquarium in Connecticut — where the seal that was found in Bermuda was transferred to — says people can “donate to win an opportunity to personally release Lou-Seal back into her ocean environment.”
The Mystic Aquarium’s website said, “A wayward gray seal was rescued by Bermuda Aquarium, Museum and Zoo from the shoreline of Tobacco Bay in Bermuda on March 19.
“Believed to be the first-ever rescued gray seal in Bermuda, BAMZ veterinarians treated the emaciated adult female for multiple small wounds, nasal discharge and dehydration. The island community quickly rallied in support of the visitor, naming her “Lou-Seal”.
“On April 10 she traveled via CargoJet to Newark Airport and was then transported to Mystic Aquarium where she will receive continued care from animal care professionals.
“The goal is to increase her body condition to a healthy weight, maintain proper red and white blood cell counts and ensure all her wounds will properly heal – all in preparation for release in the coming months.
“Through the support of Goslings, donate to win an opportunity to personally release Lou-Seal back into her ocean environment!
“Entrants must be 21+, provide their own transportation to and from Mystic Aquarium, and be available to participate in the release with up to three days advance notice. All funds raised will support Lou-Seal’s rehabilitation efforts in the final weeks of recovery.”
