The Concacaf Gold Cup website said, “Bermuda and Nicaragua will face off at the Red Bull Arena on Monday night in search of their respective first 2019 Concacaf Gold Cup win to close out their participation in the tournament.

“Although the teams have never met in the Gold Cup, Nicaragua and Bermuda met in 2004 with four international friendlies from March 31 to May 2, with the teams splitting the series with two wins each.

“Bermuda, who won the last encounter against Nicaragua, 3-0, will be looking for its first-ever Gold Cup win to conclude its tournament debut.

“Both Dante Leverock and Nahki Wells have found the back of the net for Bermuda, who had six shots on goal and recorded nine steals in its last match.

“GK Dale Eve also had seven incredible saves. However, the attack will be crucial as it faces Nicaragua in search of its first win in the 2019 Gold Cup. Nicaragua will be looking to battle out its last match and score a goal in its 2019 Gold Cup run.

“The attack will be looking to finish its scoring opportunities, as it had 62 percent ball possession in its last match and had several opportunities that were not finished.

“Nicaragua’s defense will be important as both teams look to close out their 2019 Gold Cup run with a win.”

Captain Dante Leverock and Coach Kyle Lightbourne speaking at a press conference yesterday:
