Smoldering At Pembroke Dump Extinguished

Smoldering material at the Marsh Folly dump was extinguished last night [June 21] by Bermuda Fire and Rescue Service personnel who attended with three fire appliances.

BFRS Staff Officer Sergeant Allan Wilkinson said, “Bermuda Fire and Rescue Service received a call from a staff member at the Marsh Folly dump at 10:21pm reporting smoldering on the western side of the dump.

“Upon arrival firefighters noticed smoldering as reported. Eight firefighters with three vehicles were able to wet down the area with the assistance of a machine operator.

“In approximately 1 1/2 hours firefighters were able to bring the incident under control.”

    It’s not summer yet and the dump is showing signs of ignition.
    Hope the people that control the dump have a plan of action.
