Old Bermuda Posters For Auction In New York
A series of vintage travel posters featuring Bermuda from the 1940s and 1950s will be on offer at Swann Auction Galleries Vintage Posters sale next month in New York.
A spokesperson said, “A series of vintage travel posters celebrating the delights of Bermuda will be on offer at Swann Auction Galleries Vintage Posters sale on August 7 in New York.
“Highlights include designs by the US artist Adolph Treidler [1886-1981], who first worked for the Bermuda Board of Trade promoting the destination in the 1930s, as well as advertising promotions for the airlines Pan Am and BOAC, all shown here.
“Other artists include the naturalised American Boris Artzybasheff [1899-1965], winner of the Caldecott Medal for illustrating children’s literature, who often created surreal images, as with the mermaid and lily design here, and the William Zdinak [1925-93], whose joyous c.1960 image of the couple on the motorbike is one of the most sought-after designs in this field, with an estimate here of $1500-2000.
“Buyers will be able to register to bid live online from anywhere in the world for a huge range of rare and striking designs. Details can be found on Swann Auction Galleries website at www.swanngalleries.com
