“This initiative intends to raise awareness about mental wellness as well as breaking the stigma surrounding getting the mental help one may need to have a better quality of life. The walk will take place during Mental Health Week and will start from Mid-Atlantic Wellness Institute and will end at Elliot Primary School field with the commencement of Community Fun Day,” the BMHF said.

“The Foundation will also showcase local schools and what they are doing to increase mental wellness within their schools. “The Foundation truly enjoys fulfilling its mission, goals and objectives. The Steps to Mental Wellness Walk and Community Fun Day is another initiative that will allow the Foundation to educate the community, showcase available help within our community as well as continue the fight to decrease stigma around mental illness in our country. This free event will be open to everyone and we encourage all Bermudians to come out and show their support for mental wellness” says spokesperson for the Foundation.

“We welcome all organizations, charities, fitness facilities etc. to come out and share information with our attendees. Mental Wellness includes the whole person, mind, body and soul. The key to mental wellness involves physical, mental and spiritual coping strategies or healthy coping habits. We would also like to thank our sponsors Chubb, The MarketPlace and John Barritt & Son Ltd. for their support,
