September 17, 2019

Jade Stewart, Jazae Smith, Symira Lowe-Darrell and their Holland College Women’s Soccer teammates played back to back games over the weekend winning 2 – 0 on both occasions at the Terry Fox Sports Complex in Cornwall, PEI.

The Holland College Hurricanes kicked off their 2019 Atlantic Collegiate Athletic Association [ACAA] regular season facing the Mount Saint Vincent University [MSVU] Mystics on Saturday where Jade Stewart and Jazae Smith earned assists in the game. Emily Lepine scored twice in the first half.

The Hurricanes faced the University of King’s College [UKC] Blue Devils on Sunday where it was Jazae Smith scoring at 6’ followed by a goal from Emily Cormier at 12’ to double their lead, earning their second straight 2-0 victory on home turf.

In the team’s match report, Head coach, Kris McKinnon said, “We knew it was going to be a tough opening weekend against two strong opponents. The players came ready to battle as we looked to start the season on a winning note.

“We were able to score early in both games and that settled nerves. The players deserved a six-point weekend; they’ve been training hard in preparation for these first two tests. It is a great start but we have to keep progressing as we get ready for two more battles this week.”
