Tribute Paid To Dr Leonard Teye-Botchway

Dr Leonard Teye-Botchway Bermuda September 2019 thumbPremier David Burt today expressed condolences to the family of the late Dr. Leonard Teye-Botchway, a well known eye-surgeon who served as the first-ever honorary consul for Ghana in Bermuda.

The late Dr Teye-Botchway, born and raised in Ghana and resided and practiced in Bermuda for many years, was a popular eye-surgeon and served as the first-ever honorary consul for Ghana in Bermuda, the first time that an honorary consul had been appointed in Bermuda for any African country.

He was extremely active in the community and spearheaded a number of initiatives to assist others.

The Premier said: “Dr Teye-Botchway was a well-respected eye surgeon and served his homeland Ghana very well as honorary consul.”

“Only recently I had the pleasure of hosting him and the Ghanaian High Commissioner to London for talks during the High Commissioner’s visit to Bermuda. His untimely passing comes as a tremendous shock.”

“On behalf of the Government and people of Bermuda I wish to express sincere condolences to his wife, three sons and entire family.”
