Bermuda’s IRP Featured On International Stage

October 21, 2019

Bermuda’s first Integrated Resource Plan [IRP] received accolades on an international stage recently at the 11th Annual Caribbean Renewable Energy Forum [CREF].

CREF brings together stakeholders from across the Caribbean region to discuss new initiatives and address common energy challenges.

Monique Lister, the Director of Legal Services at the Regulatory Authority of Bermuda was a panelist at the ‘Bermuda: From Ambitious IRP to 85% Renewables’ panel discussion at CREF and commented: “Initially several energy stakeholders saw Bermuda’s IRP as aggressive or too ambitious.

“After outlining the IRP process; citing extensive analysis, gaining input from alternate proposals, and most importantly feedback from the public before reaching a final decision, they can now see a clear roadmap in the development of their own IRP’s and learn from us.

“Based on the comments received, I’m happy to note that their concerns have been addressed. Bermuda is now seen as a leading country in the Caribbean region for the development of a comprehensive IRP that sets the roadmap for significantly increased renewable energy.”
