Vaping Related Diseases Increase In USA

Bermuda’s Health Ministry has urged residents to consider not using e-cigarettes after vaping-related lung diseases increased 52% in the United States.
The Center for Disease Control [CDC] released statistics that there are now 805 reported vaping-related lung cases with 13 deaths. The number of people reporting problems jumped from 530 cases in one week to 805 the next week.
The CDC said about 38% of the cases are in young people 21 years or younger. The CEO of popular vaping device maker JUUL resigned as the numbers continue to skyrocket, and apologised for creating a teen vaping epidemic.
A spokesperson for the Ministry of Health said, “There have not yet been any incidents reported to the Ministry of Health’s Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit of severe respiratory illness connected to vaping.
“However, the Ministry advises the public of the recent occurrences in the US and recommends following the advice of the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention: ‘Until a definitive cause is known, persons should consider not using e-cigarettes. Those who use e-cigarettes should seek medical attention for any health concerns’.”
The Ministry also urged physicians should report possible cases of severe respiratory illness related to e-cigarette use to the Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit.
The spokesperson added the Health Ministry has taken proactive steps in the creation of a flyer to inform and educate the public about e-cigarettes.

Why don’t you just ban the entry of vapimg devices into Bermuda? Isn’t a severe health warning of addiction and death enough for.the Health Minister?
Not really fair for those of us who have managed to quit smoking cigarettes. Especially as the issue is people buying the equivalent of bathtub gin from who knows which bathtub.
They still allow cancer sticks which kill between 5 and 7 million people world wide annually and booze which kills hundreds of thousands yet maintain prohibition on cannabis which kills zero people. “Health” ministry is a farcical joke.
